Is Your Home Insurance Policy Multi-Purpose?

Do you know that home owners insurance does not just cover the home and its contents? It also covers events or incidents that take place on the property e.g. if during this winter season the snow has been falling and you have not had the time to clear your side walk; if anybody comes into the compound and accidentally slips on the ice and breaks or sprains his leg, the home owners insurance takes care of the medical bills but if you as a home owner has no home owner insurance policy then you become responsible for clearing the medical bills.

So home insurance policy covers more than the home and the content and its therefore a worthwhile policy so that whatever happens on the property, the policy is liable even though the owner is not directly involved as long as the incident takes place on the property legally the insurance company takes care of the medical bills.

Home cover policy rates vary widely and it is according to locations; for instance places like central North Carolina has low home and renters cover premiums and rates when compared to places like Florida and some western parts of the United States whose rates are high.

You are advised to speak with your insurance broker about the policy and the medical coverage and if you are renting take out a policy on the home as well. This will give the home double coverage in case of any accident and the homeowner is faced with big medical bills even when he is not directly at fault. How do you go about getting professional help and free consultation for your home cover needs?

Installing Metal Roofs - What You Need to Know

There are many options available to us when it comes to installing metal roofs. If you are handy, some of you may be considering attempting it as a do it yourself project. Others feel that the task is beyond our skill set and are better off seeking out a professional installation crew. Either way, there are things to consider.

The biggest factor for installing metal roofs is that you must first pick out the roof style that best suits your taste and needs. With many manufacturers available online, the internet is a great place to start searching for a company that can provide you the style and quality you envision. To help pick a manufacturer, start by picking out the style of your roof. With so many styles available to homeowners today, this actually isn't as simple as it may sound. Metal roofs can now duplicate traditional styles like shingling or shake or create their own unique appearance such as with a raised seam roof.

Once you've narrowed down the style, consider color options as well. No one wants a giant metal reflector on the top of their home so finish is quite important. Many people overlook this very important step when they are installing metal roofs but it can have a very dramatic effect on the visual outcome of your home. Manufacturers can also aid you in the process of selecting the proper color as well. Request color chips from the manufacturers that interest you so you can be positive the color is what you expect.

Finally, compare the warranties that each company offers you and be sure you understand it thoroughly. One of the best reasons behind paying a little extra for metal is due to its longevity and ease of maintenance. Read the fine print and fully comprehend the extent and limitations of your warranty in the event that something ever does happen to it. Check on the warranty for your paint as well since most manufacturers offer finish factory direct. While you are in contact with the manufacturers, now is a great time to consider whether or not you think installing metal roofs is something you can take on. If not, ask them for a list of local companies that will be able to provide you with an installation of their product.

With all of the information you have gathered, you will be able to compare manufacturers and their products side by side to determine which one's right for you. Be sure to visit our website for more information about metal roofs at: Metal Roofs.

Sunroom Design - Plans And Ideas For A Do It Yourself Sunroom

So you have decided to add a sunroom enclosure to your home. Now what? Where do you start? Here are some great tips for how to get started on your sunroom design and plans.

The first thing you should do once you have decided to add a sunroom enclosure is to set a budget. How much money do you want to spend for this home improvement project? Research sunroom prices. Be sure that your estimates include costs that are often overlooked the windows, the flooring, the roofing, and the money you must pay a sunroom contractor if needed.

Get ideas. Look at pictures of sunrooms to help you decide exactly what you want. Do you want a formal room or a more casual atmosphere? Decide on a plan that will fit your needs.

Select a sunroom plan. There are many plans available, and you need to select one that is suitable to your budget and to your needs. Consider the size of the area you are looking to build a sunroom and find the sunroom design that will be enough space. Look at the prices versus the space you get. For example, what is the price difference of a design that has 50 extra square feet?
Would the difference in cost be worth the extra space, or is the sunroom design that is 50 less square feet enough? For a great list of questions to consider before selecting a design, check out this website:

Finally, begin construction. If this isnt going to be a do it yourself (DIY) sunroom, hire a contractor and get a date set for construction to begin.

Roofing Company - Protecting the Roof That Protects You

You are in your room clicking happily on your computer and surfing the net. Then suddenly, rain pours. Heavy rain. It is so heavy that you would have thought that an entire pond is being poured down on you.

Aside from the frightening sight of lightning and the equally terrifying sound of thunder pounding on your ears, are you worried about the heavy rain? Of course not, you will say. You have your roof to protect you. The roof is one of the most basic and yet one of the most necessary structure of your house (imagine a house without roof), it covers the whole house, effectively protecting its inhabitants (both biological or not) from natural interventions and even adding the needed protection and security from human intrusions. It is therefore necessary that you roof be made of the best quality, after all, it also keeps you in shade when the sun is shining so hot in the sky. It is a good thing that any good roofing company can provide you with the best service that you may need.

Your roof, among others, is definitely one of the most exposed parts of the house. It catches the burning sunlight, weathering rain, pounding hailstorm, heavy accumulated snow, the wrath of a hurricane, and often times whatever it is that a bird can bring (or excrete). Therefore, it is important that you will always avail of the maintenance and repair services of your local roofing company. Often times, a patch of your roof in itself need to be replaced, and since it is an obviously difficult and not to mention dangerous job, you can enlist an expert from a roofing company can easily do it for you. You can find a reliable roofing company online, from the yellow pages, and from your friends who have availed of their services before. You can actually contact again the construction firm who had built your house, and ask for their roofing services, or for contact details of any roofing company that they can recommend (they usually are associated to one another).

The material used for the construction of the roof is of course important for the durability and general appearance of the roof. Modern houses have came a long way since the use of straw, and now the most common materials for roof construction are galvanized iron sheets, aluminum sheets, concrete (precast), and ceramic or clay tiles, among others. You should consult first with your roofing company before you start planning on the materials and design of your roof, because of course materials are subject to their availabilities on your area, although it is highly probable that your roofing company can get them from somewhere available for you, and do not forget that some materials are cheaper than others.

Your roof is simply one of the most important parts of your house. First is of course because of the protection that it provides you and second, because of the beauty and grandeur that it adds on the general appearance of your house (which is usually since by most from the outside). You should then of course contract the most reliable Roofing Company for the construction of one of your most valuable asset.

Solar Roof Shingles - Save Money

Solar roof shingles are a great new way to harness to energy of the sun to generate electricity that can power your home. Almost everyone lives in a house where the rooftop shingles just sit there. That was fine for the past, but the future is now. It's time to put those shingles to work generating renewable energy for your household.

There is a new technology available, where thin photovoltaic cells are being used as roof shingles. This is a new building material that shows a lot of promise. Solar panels on a rooftop are bulky, and can be damaged in a storm. With solar roof shingles, you avoid these problems, but still get all the benefits of solar power in your home.

If you didn't already know, photovoltaics are extremely clean and do not pollute the environment at all. They don't require any fuel, and they run quietly. All you need is sunshine to run these power generators. As long as you've got sunlight, this technology will keep generating renewable energy.

Believe it or not, solar roof shingles can save you nearly sixty percent on your home energy costs each month. If you've got a small business, this technology can work in this context as well. It will work wherever you've got a roof to install on.

There are a lot of advantages to using solar roof shingles. Of course, you get the same protection and durability as you would be standard asphalt shingles. Aside from this, they are aesthetically appealing. You can design your product to go with your roof and the rest of your house.

It's possible to completely replace the old roofing material on your home, and install photovoltaic cells that will start generating natural energy from solar power. If you are hesitant to consider doing this, don't worry. The costs to install such a system are surprisingly low, and the material is lightweight so there's no possibility of damage to your roof or the rest of your home.

If you have a roof that receives a decent amount of sunlight each day, then your property is ideal for solar roof shingles. Best of all, there are a bunch of options for financing such a project. The Department of Energy is willing to participate in offsetting the costs of solar power for homes in America.

There may be various incentives available to you if you decide to install solar shingles. Do more research online for further information or visit our website to learn more.

How To Find And Repair Most Swimming Pool Leaks

It's not uncommon for pool owners to notice that water seems to be leaking out of their pool after opening it for the year. But where is the leak coming from? Let's take a look and see how to find and repair swimming pool leaks.

First of all, you have to make sure that it really is a leak in the first place. What do you think is a leak, may be something else. There are actually three main causes of water loss from swimming pools and they are:

1. Swimming pool plumbing leaks

2. Swimming pool shell leaks

3. Normal evaporation or excessive splash

So before you go any further let's rule out number three in the list above. It's important to do this, because actually the sun can evaporate quite a bit of water from a pool on a daily basis without your realizing it, and swimmers can splash a lot of water out of a pool too..

To find out for sure if the water loss is due to evaporation or not, take a fairly large container and fill it with water and place it on the first step of your pool. Then remove enough water from the container so that the water level in the pool and in the container is exactly the same. Now leave the container there for a couple of days to see what happens with no one using the pool in the meantime. If after a couple of days the water level in the pool has gone down, and the water level in the container has gone down the same amount, then you know that the water loss you are experiencing is most likely just evaporation due to the sun.On the other hand, if the water in the pool has gone down farther than the water in the container, then most likely there is indeed a leak in your pool somewhere.

To find a pool leak, the first place to inspect is around your filter and pump. Do you notice any water spots or damp areas there? If so, try to trace back where the water is coming from. Very often, it will be a connection on one of the pipes in this particular area. You may need to turn on the pump for a while and observe it to see if any leaks develop while everything is running. If the leak begins to show, and you feel comfortable with repairing the pool plumbing, then this is a job that you may wish to do yourself. However, for most people it will be a job that is best left to a pool professional.

If no obvious leaks can be found in the plumbing, then perhaps the leak is in the shell of the pool itself. And in this case, it's almost always advisable to leave any of this type of work up to a well-qualified professional.

As you can see, finding and repairing swimming pool leaks is usually just a matter of eliminating possible causes until you find the real problem. Once the problem is found, your final decision is whether to fix it yourself or pay someone to do it instead.

Take Back Your Life: Prioritize Your Personal Life

For some reason, Americans think they have something to prove by doing it all themselves. People say to me all of the time, that someone else just cant do for them, the things that are on the to do list. Well, that is not only a ridiculous statement, but one that can be proven wrong over and over again. We all strive to appear in control. However, you cannot be in control if you are constantly struggling to juggle events and lists. So give up some of the control. I know that is a scary thought, but do it. By having professionals handle the items on your list, you will amaze your friends and family by having more time to enjoy life and you will seem more in control than ever. Dont worry. We dont expect you to do this cold turkey. We are going to give you tips on accomplishing this daunting task after we shock you into reality.

Don't Be A Statistic!

Here are the facts......I think the expression is "read 'em and weep." I know I wanted to when I saw these numbers.

According to the Economic Policy Institute, the average U.S. family works between 105-115 hours per week. So let's run the numbers.

168 hours in a 7 day week x2 (if 2 people are working those hours) = 336

Less 110 hours for work

Less 112 hours for sleeping

Less 28 hours for eating

Less 15 hours for commuting

So what's left........71 HOURS!!! That is 71 hours for both workers total. Look like a big number of hours? Keep running the math. (If you are single that leaves you with 35.5 hrs - cut everything in half)

Now what do you have to do in that 71 hours? Remember, if you are doing something as a family (both workers), you have to double the hours used when you subtract from the 71.

  • Spend time with your family
  • Run/attend children's activities (i.e. soccer, music lessons)
  • Run errands
  • Visit friends/relatives for special occasions
  • Make purchases - clothing, gifts, daily needs

Anyone feeling exhausted yet? I am ready for a nap...oh that's right...no time for that. Well here is some advice from the BusyB herself on taking back your life.

Remedying the Problem:

  1. First evaluate the numbers that we provided above and adjust for your particular family. Some of you may work more than 110hrs, commute more, sleep less, etc. Also, stay at home moms count as working members of the family in our book so dont forget that their hours count too!
  2. Make a list of all of the things you do that take up the 71 remaining hours (or whatever number you now have).
  3. Sort the tasks by type of activity. Feel free to make up your own categories.
    • Family
    • Home Repairs/Maintenance
    • Errands/Shopping
    • Social Activities
    • School Activities
    • Other
  4. Star the ones you would rather not do (and sorry your job is one of those adult requirements in life so don't star it you dont have a choice).
  5. Estimate how much time it takes you to do each task (per week).
  6. Now make a list of all of the things that are on the perpetual to do list that never seem to get finished. Sort this list as well. Having things that are constantly waiting to be completed, does nothing but add stress to your life.
  7. Now here comes the difficult part. Giving up control to get control. You are really going to have to put on your positive change attitude to make this work. Ready? Circle the items that can be hired out. The possibilities are endless. If you are serious about change, then you will not be making excuses at this point as to why someone else cannot do the job. Do NOT, use money as an excuse at this point. You cant afford to do that. This is your life you are talking about. Here are some suggestions:
    • Lawn Care
    • Home Repair Specialists (painters, handyman etc)
    • Errand Service
    • Personal Shopper/Concierge
    • Nanny/Babysitter
    • Car Specialists
    • Financial Specialists
  8. Make another list of things you would like to do but never have time to do.
  9. If you successfully completed Step 7, you should now be able to make a new list of things to do each week that include your wants. Can you replace the have to items with the want to items? If you answered yes, you did a great job and are well on your way to taking back control of your life. If you answered no, then we still have some work to do.

Now some of you are probably saying, this is easy for her to say. Well, no it isnt. I have been where you are and it took a major life-altering situation for me to realize what is really important. Do not put yourself in the same situation.

Stop now and take stock of your life and priorities. You may find that when you reprioritize you only need some reorganization and a little help from a life management consultant or you may have bigger problems and you need to schedule time each month for professionals to help you sift through the chores.

Get your life back but appear more in control. You can do it!

Additional Information:

In this article we mentioned concierge & errand services as well as personal shoppers. While this concept is taking hold all over the world, here is a little more information about what each is and can do for you.

Errand Service It is exactly what it says. It is a company that will do your errands for you such as groceries, prescription pickup, dry cleaning drop off/pick up etc. There are also many drugstores, groceries and dry cleaners that will deliver directly to your door. Check with your local service providers.

Concierge Service Think about what you use the hotel concierge for when you do an overnight stay. Well, personal concierges do the same thing but usually on a larger scale. They plan entertainment, organize activities, make inquiries, plan travel, etc. Many provide business and secretarial services. Just ask and your wish is their command. They are master organizers. Because they are well connected with local events and businesses, they can pound out a task in minutes where it might take you hours or days.

Personal Shoppers Most people know the term Personal Shopper as it relates to high-end department stores that offer the service in-store. However, personal shoppers are now everywhere and offer the flexibility of not being tied to one particular name store.

Record Online published an article entitled "Personal Shoppers Aren't Just for the Rich Anymore" in October of 2002.

And how true this statement is! There are three types of personal shoppers and it is not by any means geared only toward women:

  • one who does all of your shopping for you
  • one who serves as your conscience, giving you advice while you shop
  • one who organizes recreational shopping trips for those who just can't get enough

A personal shopper is aware of the trends, knows about fashion do's/dont's, and is savvy about where to find those special items that aren't available at the mall.

A personal shopper is able to provide you with items without asking you if you want them, because he/she understand your lifestyle and your needs.

And no it is not just about your wardrobe - it is anything in your life that is purchased. We have even known personal shoppers who buy cars for clients.

So all in all, you, the client, custom designs the type of service you require from your personal shopper.

In the case of ON THE GO 4 U, we offer a combination of these services, as do several other firms around the country. We provide you with the ultimate life management experience. We can organize as much or as little of your life as you require.

Indra A Books, author of this and many other lifestyle articles is the owner and founder of ON THE GO 4 U, Personal Shoppers & Concierge Service in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The companys creed is to provide its clients with the ultimate life management experience. In addition to its shopping and concierge services, ON THE GO 4 U also publishes a monthly e-zine and conducts workshops on wardrobe, entertaining and decorating. Ms. Books also gives seminars on the topic of this article. For more information about the author and ON THE Go 4 U, please visit http://www.onthego4u.net

Renovate With EIFS and Save $3,000 With the Ontario Home Energy Audit

Ontario's Home Energy Audit provides rebates to home owners who improve their home in some way to reduce energy consumption and waste. The program provides rebates from $60.00 per energy-star qualified window, to $1,000.00 for a high efficiency furnace, to $3,000.00 for insulating the exterior of your home. Why is the largest grant (by category) given to Exterior Wall Insulation? One of the reasons is it can have the largest impact on keeping the heat inside your home as home owners typically see a 20-30% reduction in their heating and cooling bills after renovating the exterior of their walls with EIFS (synthetic stucco).

First Thing is First

In order to qualify for the rebates, you need to first have someone do the Ontario Home Energy Audit. This involves contacting the Government's ecoENERGY program to have an inspector come to your house and evaluate your eligibility. You will fall into various categories ranging from not eligible (because there is nothing that needs to be done), to partial benefits to improve certain aspects, to the full grant for adding something that is not currently there. The majority of homes do not have insulation on the exterior of their homes (from the sheating substrate and outward), which makes most home owners eligible for the full $3,000.00 rebate. From the day of the inspection, you have exactly 18 months to complete all your retrofits and get the auditor back.

Get Quotes For an EIFS Retrofit

It may even be a good idea to do this first so you don't waste time trying to find contractors and prices. It is important to get multiple quotes, from different contractors to get a feel for what the price should be. They can be found via the internet, yellowpages, referrals, or preferably by the EIFS manufacturer who will recommend you to a few contractors they know that do quality work. Speaking with different contractors will open your eyes to aspects others may not mention, such as decorative items or things you need to consider like temporarily removing your soffit. Things that may affect your quotes include:

  • Time of year will affect price, which is higher during the winter and busy season
  • Not requiring a weather barrier (only if going over brick, concrete or CMU) will save money
  • Small portions (such as dormers) often cost extra
  • Decorative elements such as mouldings and cornices cost extra

Let's say you understand what your options and prices are after getting 5 quotes, which do you choose? To start, if one is far below the others, toss it immediately. Any money you will save will come back to bite you down the road, and the repair can be more expensive than your synthetic stucco retrofit in the first place. Most of the time you want to go with quote #3 or #4 in terms of price. Don't forget that you can add decorative elements (like window sills, quoins, trim) at a later date -- one of the great benefits of EIFS.

Thickness of Styrofoam

Though this will affect the price and is up to your discretion, a minimum of 2.5" of "Type 1 Expanded PolyStyrene" (the white styrofoam) is required to qualify for the full $3,000.00 rebate. Typical styrofoam thickness is 2", which would get you the $1,800.00 rebate, however the additional 1/2" will not (or rather, should not) run you an additional $1,200.00, which means you will actually save money.

For the technically inclined, a total of R-3.8 to R-9 will qualify you for $1,800.00, while an R-value of 9 or above qualifies for the full $3,000.00 rebate. Type 1 Expanded PolyStyrene (the type of white styrofoam EIFS manufacturers carry and specify) is rated at R-3.71(per inch). This means adding 1" of styrofoam qualifies you for no rebate (yes, they are serious about that 0.09 of R value missing), while 2.5" will qualify you for the whole $3,000.00 (2.5 x 3.71 = 9.275). The other layers of EIFS do provide some R-value (arguable enough that 1" would qualify you for the rebate), however the government stipulates that the R-value is calculated solely on what is added to the wall via styrofoam.

Plan All Your Retrofits, Then Proceed

You want to consider other renovations at the same time as your Synthetic Stucco retrofit. If you intend to add Energy Star qualified windows, they must be installed prior to adding Synthetic Stucco so that they can be properly "tied in" to the wall, that is, to prevent moisture intrusion. You will want to cover these windows while the EIFS is being installed to lessen the chances of them getting dirty. Again, soffits need to be removed during installation to avoid unsightly gaps at the top of your wall which double as a point for water to penetrate. A little bit of planning goes a long way in saving you money and head aches.

Get The Auditor Back

Once everything is finished it's time to have the inspector come back to re-evaluate your home. You will need to show him copies of the bills with the specifications (for example, the EIFS contractor would specify "2.5" insulation added" on his invoice), and pictures of the product being installed may help -- make sure to find out exactly what the auditor is looking for during the first visit. Remember also, that you only have 18 months from the first inspection to get him back, otherwise you forfeit any claim you have to rebates. You may only do this once (ever!) so make sure you do all your retrofits at one time for the rebates, or be prepared to pay for future retrofits out of your pocket.

Upon verification that a minimum of 2.5" of insulation has been applied to all wall surfaces on the exterior of your home, the auditor will check to see if you qualify for any additional rebates for retrofits which may have been undertaken, then electronically submit the result to "Natural Resource Canada" and the "Ontario Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure". From the time your auditor performs the final evaluation, you can expect to wait anywhere from 5-9 weeks for the audit to be processed another 1-2 weeks for the cheque to arrive.

Don't forget that on top of the rebate, renovating your home with Synthetic Stucco increases the value of your home (you recoup up to 88% of the renovation cost via increased home value) and can reduce your heating bill anywhere from 20%-30%, saving you over $500 per year.

Guitar and Bass Repair - Perfect the Tuning of Your Instrument - Intonation Troubleshooting Part 2

Your guitar won't play in tune because of faulty intonation. You have tried sacrificing your favorite effects pedal to the guitar gods and donating gig money to orphanages, but nothing seems to help. You were ready to take up the Theremin until you found articles like this one that describe practical ways to fix intonation. Part One of this article explained how to fix certain factors that corrupt the intonation of guitars and basses, such as faulty nut slots or excessive neck relief. Part Two will discuss how to fix a few more issues that cause flawed intonation. For a review on how to properly set intonation, refer to the Xylem article Guitar and Bass Repair - Beyond Basic Tuning - Intonation, What is it and How Does it Work?

High Nut

(Please follow the link at the bottom of the article to view the associated figures)

If the first several frets of your instrument play sharp, regardless of intonation settings and tuning, the nut may be too high. The taller the nut the more the strings stretch when fretted. The more the strings stretch, the sharper the pitch. To check if your nut is too high, tune your instrument to pitch and make sure the neck relief is set properly (refer to the Xylem Truss Rod Articles parts 1-3 for a review of setting neck relief). Next, fret the lowest string at the third fret. If you can fit more than one business card between the bottom of the string and the top of the first fret, the nut is too high.

A high nut must be removed and the extra height sanded away. To remove the nut, place a wood block against the side facing the fretboard (Figure 1). Gently tap the opposite end of the block of wood with a hammer to knock the nut free. Most instruments should have only a small amount of glue holding the nut on so it may be removed this way without causing any damage. If the nut does not come off after a few gentle taps, consider asking a luthier or repair tech to remove the nut.

Once the nut is free, mark it to indicate how much material should be removed, keeping in mind that removing 1/8" is a lot. While sanding, make sure the bottom of the nut remains flat and square to the side that touches the fretboard by checking it with a square frequently. Sanding the nut with a jig like the one depicted in Figure 2 will help it stay flat and square (make sure your jig forms a perfect right angle). Start with a coarse grit sandpaper between 100 and 150. The final sanding should be done with a grit between 320 and 600. Sand away material in small increments and check the height of the nut occasionally with the third fret method described above. If you sand away too much material you may have to replace the nut.

Once the nut is the proper height, clean up any excess glue where the nut was seated on the neck with a chisel, file or sandpaper wrapped around a small square block (if you don't have much experience with a chisel, stick with the file or sandpaper). Make sure the nut's seat stays square and flat. Place a small drop of hide glue or white glue on the nut's seat. Place the nut in its seat and tune the instrument to pitch (the strings will act as a clamp). Make sure that the nut does not wander while tensioning the strings. Wipe away excess glue with a moist paper towel and allow it to dry for about 12 hours before playing the instrument. You've just improved both the intonation and the action at the lower frets!

Maxed-Out Compensation and Instruments with Fixed Saddles

Some instruments' saddles may be adjusted all the way back or forward but they still do not intonate correctly. Other instruments with incorrect intonation have fixed saddles so their compensation cannot be adjusted easily. The intonation of these instruments may be improved or corrected in one of the following ways, depending on action, relief and string tension.

In general, a guitar or bass with high action, excessive relief or lower-tension strings will require more compensation, as all these conditions require the strings to stretch further when fretted. Instruments with the saddles adjusted all the way back (or a fixed saddle) and sharp intonation may have their action lowered, relief reduced or higher-tension strings installed in an effort to correct their intonation. Conversely, instruments with saddles adjusted all the way forward (or a fixed saddle) and flat intonation may have their action raised, relief increased or lower-tension strings installed to improve or correct their intonation. DIY Bathroom Remodeling Or Hiring a Contractor

The first question you need to ask yourself when remodeling a bathroom is can you actually do the work yourself or do you have someone that can help you with the remodeling. If you don't know anyone and can't do the work yourself, I would suggest hiring a contractor with experience remodeling bathrooms.

If you can do the work yourself or think you could do the work yourself, why not give it a shot. Any experience you have in construction or home remodeling, is going to be beneficial to your bathroom remodeling project. There is plenty of information on the internet or in your local libraries on bathroom remodeling and these often prove to be great resources for do it yourselfers.

As an experienced contractor I have gathered a great deal of information through books, at work and watching local home improvement shows. The biggest problem with the show's and quite a few of these books, is they don't provide enough information. Most of the time they provide you with the basics of bathroom remodeling and you could soon find yourself in trouble or seeking the advice from a home improvement professional.

The largest benefit for doing the bathroom remodeling project yourself, could be the money you save, along with the satisfaction of completing the project. It makes homeowners feel good when they've completed a large home remodeling project, like a bathroom remodel.

If you don't have the time, lack the experience or a combination of both, I would suggest hiring a contractor to relieve you from the stress and frustration of your bath remodeling project. The more complex your bathroom remodeling project is, the greater the degree of difficulty, the longer it will take to complete the project. Some of these projects can take up a lot of your time.

If you're working on galvanized water supply pipes or old cast iron waste pipes, you could find yourself hiring a plumber to install your bathtub and fixtures. These old pipes create problems for most do it yourselfers and I would suggest hiring a professional, whenever you run into a problem you don't feel comfortable with.

Choosing to tackle some of these difficult problems yourself, could lead to water leaks and more damage to the home eventually costing you even more money than the original cost of hiring an experienced plumber in the first place. When it comes to water, structural framing and electricity, think twice, especially if you're not experienced in these areas.

My advice to do it yourselfers is to hire a professional if you're not comfortable or seek the advice from a contractor or someone with considerable experience bathroom remodeling.

Your Real Estate Expenses Guide For Buying A Home In Israel

This guide will walk you through the various expenses associated with a real estate transaction in Israel.

Whether you are looking to buy or sell a property in Israel, it will help you plan ahead and make sure you are on top of the game. It is built in a Q&A format for your convenience.

What Is the Purchase Tax?

Purchase tax is payable by the purchaser in a real estate transaction. Generally, the tax is between 3.5% and 5%, depending on the property value. A reduced tax of 0.5% is payable by an Israeli resident that is purchasing a residential apartment, if it is the only flat he owns. On real estate sales between close members of a family when no money changes hands, purchase tax is 1/3 of the normal rate of tax.
From the point of view of Israeli income tax, a wife with children under 18 are considered a single family unit, and therefore if the wife owns a property in her own name and the husband purchases a second property in his name, he will pay a higher tax rate as if he already owns a property.

What Is the Sales Tax?

Sales tax was introduced on 1.1.2000 and it applies to the seller. The tax is 2.5% of the value of the sale or 0.8% on the sale of a residential property by a building contractor. The sale of a property by a private individual is exempt from sales tax in many cases.

What is the commission of the real estate agents and brokers in Israel?

The commission in Israel is payable by each of the sides of the transaction (both seller and buyer). A good agent will save you more money than he costs, as he has a wealth of experience which will help you make the right decisions.
The customary brokerage commission payable is:
On the purchase or sale of property, 2% of the inclusive price of the property.
On leasing property for a period of one year or more, one month of rent.
Value Added Tax is added to any commission due (17%).
Payment of the full commission is due on the signing of a binding agreement to purchase or lease a property.

What is the legal fee for the real estate lawyer?

When buying a first-hand property from a contractor, you will have to pay 1.5% plus VAT to the contractor's lawyer for legal fees.
In the case of second-hand purchase, you will pay between 0.5% and 1% plus VAT to the lawyer that will handle matters on your behalf.

What are the property inspection fees?

This is important especially when you are buying a used property. You should have the property inspected by a certified engineer or surveyor before signing the contract and make sure you have a written statement at hand. The average fee is approximately $400-$500 plus VAT but it may vary according to the size of the property.

What are the currency conversion rates?

When purchasing a property in Israel the payments are usually made in Israeli Shekels (NIS) and not in Dollars, Euros, etc. When converting money to Shekels, the bank usually charges a fee: between 0.1% and 0.5% of the amount that is being converted.

Elements of Green Building - "Steel Framing"

What is Steel Framing? -

Imagine the wood framing of a traditionally built home, but where there are 2x4s, 2x6s, etc., there are steel studs. The studs themselves start out as large steel sheets. These sheets are passed through a series or rollers, none of which use heat, to bend the steel to make more useful shapes for buildings, like the flanges, web, and lips of a stud or C-shape. Steel studs come in various shapes and sizes, much like those that builders are accustomed to seeing in dimensional lumber, including 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x10, etc. The lengths are custom cut in the steel plant. And, since there is no heat used to shape the steel, no integrity or strength is lost. The shape makes the studs stronger than the original steel sheet. The steel studs can either be sold as is or placed into configurations to be sold as wall panels.

Applications -

Since steel is so strong, durable, versatile, and affordable, it can be used as framing for a great variety of situations, from superstructures like skyscrapers, bridges, and high-rises to lower-scale building projects like commercial shopping centers and residential homes. Since steel's strength-to-weight ratio is so high, it is ideal for situations that require long spans. For example, steel opens up possibilities for wide, open living spaces in residences.

Advantages -

* Steel framing's higher strength-to-weight ratio gives designers and engineers more options to use less framing material, allowing longer spans and wider on-center spacing schedules. In other words, fewer studs need to be used in the erection of a house or building, and larger open spaces are available in a home or building.

* Steel studs and joists are strong, light-weight, and made from uniform-quality material.

* Galvanized steel is noncombustible, unsusceptible to rot, and resistant to corrosion. It does not shrink, warp, twist, crack, split, or swell. This means your walls are straight and square for the life of the house, which will be a long life at that. Steel framing contributes to better drywall and exterior appearance, as well as the fit of doors and windows.

* Steel is insect and termite resistant. It is also mold resistant.

* Steel performs well in high wind and seismic areas.

* Steel provides a more reliable supply of framing materials for the building industry. It isn't affected by the shortages and sharp price increases of the lumber industry.

* Remodeling and additions are no issue with steel framing since, just like wood framing, non-load-bearing walls can be removed.

* It is at least partly made of recycled materials and is 100 percent recyclable after use.

* Since steel is fire retardant, withstands high winds, and is more durable in hurricanes and earthquakes, homeowners may enjoy lower insurance premiums.

Disadvantages -

"Thermal bridging" occurs when hot or cold air is drawn to a stud, resulting in heat loss or gain. In cold climates, thermal bridging could result in increased heating costs and in hot climates, heat gain could result in moisture damage. When we build with steel, we use thermal barrier insulating materials to provide exceptional heat and cooling loss protection to steel-built homes.

What makes it "green"?

* Steel is completely recyclable. In fact, steel is North America's most recycled material. More than 65 million tons of steel scrap is recycled each year. More steel is recycled than paper, aluminum, glass, and plastic combined. As an end result, recycling steel scrap also saves landfill space and natural resources. When the steel framing of a home has outlived its useful life, it can be recycled into new steel.

* An average 2,000 square foot steel framed house can generate as little as a cubic yard of recyclable scrap, diverting material for local landfills. This is partly because steel studs are cut to exact lengths from steel stud machines so there are no wastes at the construction site. The wastes in the steel plant are recycled to make more steel.

* Steel framing contains at least 28 percent recycled steel and is completely recyclable. Using recycled steel takes the pressure off renewable resources. For example, a typical 2,000-square-foot home requires about 40 to 50 trees, about an acre's worth. With steel, only the equivalent of about six scrapped automobiles is needed.

* When used with thermal barrier materials, there is minimal heating and cooling loss. Steel framing also results in less loss around windows and doors as well as foundation and roofing connections because the steel will not warp and move, ridding concern of gaps and accompanies energy loss created over the life of the house.

* Steel framing means less need for lumber. Today, more than 90 percent of North America's old-growth forests are already being harvested. This eases the strain on these dwindling forests, saving the wildlife that lives in those forests, as well.

* Steel is non-toxic and allergy free, which means healthier living for occupants.

Patio Awnings

If you really want to add value to your property and make your patio a more habitable space, consider looking into Patio Awnings.

The main reason to purchase a Patio Awning is protection from the sun. Patio Awnings minimise glare and UV rays both indoors and outdoors. By providing shade, they also reduce the amount of heat entering your property through open patio doors- meaning you spend less on air conditioning. Furthermore, with sufficient slope, retractable awnings can protect outdoor areas from rain, providing the material is water resistant. This means you can sit outside and enjoy your patio whatever the weather.

There are 2 basic types of Patio Awning- fixed and retractable. Both come in a variety of different designs, colours and materials. However retractable awnings are generally better as you can position them to suit your needs on a day to day basis.

Choosing the right awning for your patio is as much about personal preference as it is about functionality- however it's important to make the right decision, as a poor quality Patio Awning, or one that looks totally out of place on your patio will ultimately spoil the experience. It may even detract from the value of your property- so get it right!

The first thing to look at is the climate you live in- if it's hot and sunny all year round, maybe steer more towards a fixed Patio Awning. If you live in a seasonal climate, go for a retractable Awning. You then need to consider elements like price, size, design/style, and materials/ fabrics when chosing your Patio Awning.

Purchase an Awning today and reap the benefits.

Home Remodeling Stair Lighting Help

Walking up and down the stairs in the dark could become a safety issue. If the stairs in the house are not that old, there should be a light switch at the top and a light switch at the bottom of the stairway. This is a three way switch and is designed to allow you to turn the stair lighting on as you walk up the stairs and then turn the stair lighting off, once you've safely reached the top of the stairway. And vice versa as she walked down the stairs.

If you don't have a light switch, there are motion sensor lights that are battery operated and can be installed easily in the stairway. These lights can provide you with peace of mind, while protecting your family from accidents.

Stairway accidents are nothing to joke about, I lived in a two-story house with four other people and was the last one to fall down the stairway. None of us got seriously injured and the stairway was built to meet local building codes and was inspected by a building and safety inspector. The stairs were built correctly and the stair lighting was no problem, but people still fell down the stairway and it always happens in the evening.

During the day time there were two windows that let plenty of light into the stairway and in the evening the stairway became quite dark, rarely was the stair lightning ever turned on. This could have been outright laziness but nevertheless, it was rarely used and eventually became a safety issue.

Lighting your stairway might not end all of your problems but it can and some of your problems. There are plenty of stair lighting systems available on the market today and some of the battery operated stair lighting systems can be installed by most homeowners.

Think safety always and do your best to solve your stair lighting problems as soon as possible to prevent injuries or accidents.

In the Bathroom - 5 Ways That You Can Add Value to Your Home

While adding an additional bathroom to your home is estimated to add over 100% of the price of that addition to the value of your home, remodeling your bathroom can be just as profitable - but at a lower cost to you. The housing market is fierce right now, with plummeting housing prices, but adding valuable touches can make your house the one that gets the offer.

Value Adding Way #1

One of the easiest ways to remodel your bathroom is to look for modern bathroom vanities. These vanities are a great way to start off any remodel by adding a touch of theme to your design plans. Because the vanity will take up a large portion of the bathroom itself, it will become the focal point of the room. Thus, by adding something with the modern, sleek lines, you will be well on your way to a bathroom that's adding value to the sale of your home with modern appeal.

Value Adding Way #2

Another simple way to add value to your home is to look at the modern vessel sinks. These sinks protrude from the top of the bathroom counter, giving a more pronounced appeal to the room as well as a contemporary finish. Instead of the same old boring sink, you can have a dramatic basin. And when your buyer is interested in having the best of the best, they're also willing to pay for it.

Value Adding Way #3

Changing your bathroom faucet is another simple way to add value to a home that's up for sale. If you're not sure if you can afford a completely new vanity, this is an excellent way to make sure that you're bring a touch of the modern times to the bathroom - just without the price. You can even change the levers on the sink to match the faucet to complete the overall look and create an attractive and finished look.

Value Adding Way #4

Vanity cabinets allow for more storage and space in an already small bathroom. When you're trying to sell your home, they can be an appealing feature that is sure to win over an undecided buyer - and even add value to the sale. By coordinating them with your new bathroom vanity and faucet, you have completed the bathroom's modern appearance.

Value Adding Way #5

One of the more expensive ways to add value to your home is to add something larger to the bathroom - a whirlpool, a set of beautiful bathroom mirrors, or perhaps an attractive shower design. When you start to separate your home from the others on the block, you'll not only add value, but you'll also be able to entice the undecided home buyer - after all, you have something that no one else does.

While you might not think that the bathroom is the best place to renovate, you may want to reconsider. Not only does remodeling your bathroom add value to your home and increase its appeal to those that are looking to buy, but it can generally be done in a way that doesn't cost you a lot of money.

Ego and Spirituality

What is ego? I've often heard people say someone is coming from his or her ego. Ego has gotten a bad reputation because if a person is in his or her ego, how can he or she be spiritual? Are ego and spirituality separate?

Our modern concept of ego started with good old Sigmund Freud. Originally, Freud defined the word ego as a sense of self. Later, he revised his definition of ego to mean the organized realistic part of the psyche, compared to the chaotic instinctual id and the critical and moralizing super-ego. The ego finds a balance between primitive drives and reality while satisfying the id and super-ego. In psychoanalysis, the ego is the part of the psyche that is conscious, controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality. This perspective is entirely focused on third dimensional experience.

In third dimensional experience, the concept of ego has commonly come to be applied to self worth, self esteem and self identity. A person who is has an inflated sense of self worth is referred to as egotistical. Ego is your identity that separates you from all other people. Taking ego a step further, does having a separate identity separate you from not just other people but from your spiritual nature and from God? You are a spiritual being in physical form. As a spiritual being in physical form, isn't ego part of you and part of your Divine nature? Every one of us has a mind and emotions. Your mind and emotions are part of you and part of your Divine nature. In order to become more spiritual, is it necessary to eliminate your ego? If we are truly all one, why does separation in the form of individual ego exist?

The ego expresses individuality. Oneness of all Creation expresses spirituality. You are both a distinct individual and a spiritual being. You are an individual with your own cumulative experiences and lessons, while at the same time; you are part of the whole. Just because you have an ego or sense of self, does not in itself create separation. The sense of separation is created by your belief in separation. When you focus on separation and create thoughts and feelings that reinforce separation, you are creating separation. When you move into spiritual trust and embrace your individual connection to all creation, you are creating oneness. There is a duality here, a duality of separateness and oneness that balance each other out. Ego is about balance, balancing your individuality with your spirituality, allowing for and accepting the flow between them.

Ego and spirituality are interconnected, balancing energies. Instead of struggling with ego as a separating energy in your life that takes you away from your spiritual path, embrace and work with your ego. Become aware of when you are experiencing an ego related feeling, such as guilt or embarrassment. Any ego related response is a normal part of human experience. As a spiritual being in physical form, how you react to your ego related responses is your choice. You can get involved in the thoughts and emotions that come from your sense of self and create separation, or you can acknowledge the thoughts and emotions you create and experience. Love the thoughts and emotions that come from your sense of self and send love to all who trigger these responses in you. Focus on Oneness as your Divine nature and the Universal nature of the Divine in all experiences and all beings. Life is in Divine order. Ego is only a bad thing if you see it as a bad because it separates you from the Divine. Ego is Divine.

Famous Interior Designers Series - Jean Royere

One of the all-time greatest French designers, Jean Royere succeeded in establishing his individuality by creating and implementing unique designs for interior space. Born in 1902 in France, Jean Royere had started showing his skills as an interior decorator at the age of 29, shortly after resigning from a trading firm. He then began to work with Pierre Gouffe in 1931. From there, he rose to fame with his unique unconventional approach to interior design. Jean found immediate success in 1934 when he designed the new layout of the Brasserie Carlton on the Champs Elysees.

In all his designs Jean Royere employed traditional artisan techniques and often his designs are personal and innovative, though unimaginative. He had opened his own gallery in 1942 at 184, Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honore for the purpose of exhibiting his collections. He later opened branch offices in Cairo, Beirut, Peru and Iran in 1946, 1947, 1953 and 1958 respectively. His works in the Middle East helped him earn large commissions which also gave him the opportunity to work with the royalty and the heads of various states. Royere's royal patrons included King Farouk of Egypt, King Hussein of Jordan and the Shah of Iran, all of whom where impressed by his creations and hence entrusted Jean with the interior design of their palaces.

Jean Royere had different innovative interior furniture design concepts in his mind and his products often combine bright colours, organic forms and precious materials. Some of his commercial works include the Sheet Stool, designed using ebonized wood and goat-fur upholstery, the Bar cart in brass and ebonized wood, and the adjustable floor lamp designed in 1956. He had his initial designs of chairs with perforated metal backs and seats, for the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques in 1937 and these had served as the precursors of his related future designs.

Jean's works are often being exhibited at various exhibitions and art galleries. Some of the unusual works of Jean which were exhibited in the Sonnabend Gallery in New York included the rare 'Flaque' low table, the 'Ours Polaire' sofa, the 'Starlette' bed, a 'visiteur du soir' model settee, and a huge collection of lighting fixtures such as the 'Persian', the 'Eiffel Tower' and the 'Mushroom'.

Following decoration and furnishing for the French delegation in Helsinki in 1951, he also found time to undertake and complete interior decoration for residences of his family members, spread across Saint-Tropez, Auray, Marly and the Baleric Islands. Leaving Paris in 1980, Jean spent his final years in the United States. Before leaving for US, Jean donated his entire collection of archives to the Museum of the Decorative Arts of Paris. Royere died in 1981 in US, after enjoying a flourishing career from 1931 to 1970.

Now more than ever interior decorating and design is available to the masses. Home Staging Consultants in Manchester are available in the north of the UK to help you sell your home more effectively. Residential Metal Roofs - Color Your Roof in Style

The variety of metal roof colors and styles available today may astound you. If you are considering a metal roof, you can forget that old tin roof look.

If you want the price and durability of a metal roof, but prefer the classic shingle look, metal roof shingles are available in all the colors of traditional asphalt shingles. Other colors you may not have considered before are also available.

Metal roof tiles are available in a multitude of colors, and can be purchased with a stone type finish to give them a real tile look. Sculpted cap pieces complete the effect. All metal roofs will save you money in the long run, but metal tile versus traditional tile may be the best bargain.

The other candidate for the best bargain would be a cedar shake style metal roof. That's right, you can have the look of a traditional cedar shake roof for less than the price of a shingle roof. Again, different colors and styles are available.

Even the traditional metal roof design can look better than the old tin roof of yesteryear. Many standing seam configurations are available that do not show any screws. With the colors available today, you can have a truly beautiful roof in a simple classic style that will last a lifetime.

An interesting development available today is photovoltaic roof panels. These panels look just like a standard roofing panel, available in the same colors as a standard panel. These panels are only available in certain standing seam models, but they are a vast improvement over the look of standard photovoltaic installations. This do not look like an add-on. It would be an integral part of your roof.

You do need a licensed electrician to install all the equipment you need to connect your house to a photovoltaic system. But you could install the roofing system on your own.

If you are considering a do-it-yourself installation, your manufacturer should have a contact available to help you through the entire process. They will have metal roof installation instructions for the style you choose. Local permitting would be your responsibility, but they will even have advice to help you through that process. The cost savings for doing it yourself are significant, and are definitely worth the time and effort.

Most metal roofing sold today is rated for fifty years. With the addition of coatings available today and in the future, your new metal roof may be the last one your house will ever need.

Building an Orchid Greenhouse - Five Things You Absolutely Must Know

Have you adored orchids for your whole life, always giving them as gifts instead of regular flowers, or perhaps even had your own potted orchids? Since you're so passionate, and have the know-how, you should start your own home business as an orchid cultivator by starting your own orchid greenhouse!

Let's not get carried away, though. Before you can sell all those gorgeous orchids, you need to build a greenhouse for them to grow. Not only that, but you'll have to make sure you can afford the financial investment involved in your growing operation. It is not just a matter of putting them in the soil, then harvesting them, you have to take special care of the plants like they were your own children. You need the right type of soil, specific growth ingredients that orchids need to thrive, and so on. So, before you jump run out and start buying tons of stuff, ask yourself this: "Am I ready to grow my own orchids? Do I have the money needed, the will power required and the special knowledge required?" If you answered "yes," then read on. If not, you might want to wait for a while before building your own orchid greenhouse, or just keep dreaming.

Assuming you have what it takes, then it's time to build! Here are five critical steps towards making this dream a reality:

1. Buy the appropriate materials needed to build. Look for corrugated fiberglass panelling, with some plastic sheeting and home insulation. These should be the basics, and they're relatively inexpensive.

2. Draw up some plans for the structure and location of the greenhouse, the foundation (area under the orchid greenhouse), and what type of floor you want to have. This is crucial, as the success or failure of the project will depend upon the choices you make in the beginning.

3. Make a blueprint of the orchid greenhouse, and also keep a notebook for detailed information, such as how you want the greenhouse partitioned and layed out, what are the growing zones and what height will the construction have.

4. It's now time for specifics! How will you make the lower wall? Will you paint it, or will you keep cover it with wallpaper, or something else? Do you want to build in seating so you'll be confortable while inside? Also, don't forget to include a storage area for your supplies.

5. Last, but equally important, you should take care of the exterior environment. After all, you want your orchid greenhouse to get as much sun as possible, so make sure you put it in a sunny area and not somewhere where trees shade the greenhouse for most of the day.

Well, that's it, the five steps that will get you close to building your dream orchid greenhouse. But remember, building it is only half the battle. The other half is caring for your orchids, since they are delicate, sensible flowers, and any miscalculation or improper setup of the greenhouse will affect their overall quality.

Any plant growing business is no easy job, and if you aren't positive that you can handle it, my advice would be to pay for real professionals, as paying them will guarantee you a good job. Good luck with your orchid greenhouse, and remember to have fun!

The Benefits of Using a Link Building Service

If you are new to the world of owning a website, there are so many things that you need to know. It is not as simple as buying a domain and either selling products, offering a service or passing along information. There is much more to it, especially if you are trying to make money from your site. You have to make sure that the content on your site is 100% original; if it is duplicated the search engines may not give you any traffic.

The goal of owning most websites is to make money but in order to make money you will need a boost from the search engines. If Google or Yahoo! doesn't think that your site is worth anything you won't get any search engine traffic. The more traffic you have the better you will do. You can try to structure or design your site where the user will find it easy to navigate and they must find something useful there so they will stay on your site for a while.

But you still have to get traffic to your site and one way to do that is by using a link building service. When choosing a service company to help you boost your traffic, you should ask to see some proof that they have helped other websites in the past. There are too many companies out there that are just looking to take your money.

Once you have chosen a link building service, you should expect to see more targeted traffic to your site, a higher ranking in the search engines and if you have a product site or a service site you will want to see more business. Remember that this will not happen overnight and it may take some time. But you should see some progress in a few weeks.

Some link building services in the United Kingdom offer some great services there are a few companies that stand by their policy of no link exchanges, no link farms, no 3 way links and no links on free for all pages. They do offer anchor text that is important and necessary to your site. They promise deep links and permanent links.

You have to be very careful when you use link building to increase your traffic, you have to use White Hat methods in order not to get penalized from the search engines. Use simple methods and don't try to be too obvious, without the search engines you can't expect to make any money on the Internet. If you are trying link building on your own, try to incorporate links into the content you have on your site. It is fine as long as you do it in the right fashion, you want to keep low key and not in your face.

Building Effective Teams

The success and failure of any business depends on the efficacy of the teams that are formed to execute various tasks. Building an effective team is not easy. Lot of planning and thought goes into the constitution of teams that are formed to execute various tasks. Whether it is the administration or you have to execute a specific project, the team should have members, who complement each other in executing the task. Every member of the team has to understand that he a vital cog in the execution of the project.

Each team member has to be picked in such a way that he has the specialized knowledge or capacity to execute to the job he has been assigned. Most projects go awry, because of the faulty selection of the team members.

Each member should know the overall picture, as well as his role in execution of the project. If the team members understand their role it becomes much easier for the team leader to motivate the team and execute the project.

An effective team should have regular team meetings, to review the progress of the project and the task that still lies ahead. Discuss the positive and negative aspects of the work done so far. Think of what corrections have to make for the future. If any member of the team is not getting along too well with his work, he should be provided with all the encouragement, to move forward and fulfill his role.

The team leader should tell his teammates to perform the roles assigned to them, to the best of their ability and he would take responsibility for the outcome. This would deflect any pressure on the team members and allow them to fulfill their roles with greater confidence. Confidence goes along way in achieving the goals.

As the going gets tough, there could be differences of opinion. In an effective team, the team members should also be encouraged to get together to resolve the differences amicably. The team leader should act as a catalyst to resolve any conflict.

In an effective team each and every team member should be encouraged to speak out and tell the impediments he is facing in the execution of the tasks assigned to him. Any problem however insignificant has to be addressed immediately. The team leader has to inspire the confidence of the team members and stand up for them and resolve the problem. His role is very important in functioning of the team. It can even be said, it is the make or break for the team.

In the event of the successful completion of the project, each and every team member should be made to feel that his role was vital for the success of the project. The success of the team should be celebrated together by going out for a party or picnic.

Developing Wealth Building Habits

If you want to be successful, you need mentors or in other words find people that have succeeded. These people can include the ultra rich like Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, but don't forget about the people around you that have created good wealth building habits.

Some of the people have great advice and will need to be listened to very intently, while others need to be put on a list and never spoken to again. If you're going to be developing wealth building habits, you're going to need some advice from wealthy people. Let me make myself clear, when I'm talking about developing wealth building habits, I'm not talking about spiritual, knowledge, Biblical or religious wealth. I'm talking about making money, as much money as you desire or feel you need.

Wealth building habits start with you. Ask yourself this question "how bad do I want or desire wealth?" Really, really, really bad or are you the kind of person that would like to be rich, but that's as far as it goes. Developing any of these habits does not include sleeping in until 11 o'clock in the morning and then complaining the rest of the day about your finances.

Bill Gates used to work 16 hours a day. How many days a week did he do that? These are the questions you're going to find the answers to. If you're interested in making $50 million, you need to find someone who can teach you, how to make $50 million.

It won't be necessary to contact Warren Buffett but I would advise you to gather as much information about him as possible. Wealth building habits start with learning about wealthy people. If they get up at four o'clock in the morning and read the newspaper until six o'clock, then exercise for 30 minutes and start working at seven o'clock, you need to start doing this also. Developing good wealth building habits over time are what most successful businessman and women have been doing for years. Study their habits and start changing yours.

If you do something every day, it will usually become a habit within 30 days.

Why Bathroom Remodeling Will Add Life to Your Home

There are many ways to remodel a bathroom and depending on how extensive of a remodel project you want, you could spend three or four times the normal amount if you are doing a lot of tile work, granite counters, new cabinetry, etc. Usually the older the bathroom the more extensive and expensive the remodel project will be.

There are so many things to consider when renovating your bathroom. Replacing the current window with a larger one will add light and also give you an opportunity to add a more energy efficient window. Maybe you can add a skylight, this is an excellent way to bring in more light and increase the feeling of spaciousness. Replacing fixtures with modern designs can make a bathroom more decorative and style that not only looks good, but is functional. There is a wide price range for light fixtures, so you can easily pick one that fits your budget. Replacing a toilet can be a simple thing if you avoid the most common mistakes made by many homeowners.

Remember, the door fixtures will be the first thing you see when you enter any room so you might want to start here! Remember, if you don't fell 100% comfortable with or confident in the possible outcome, stop and meet with your contractor immediately and discuss an alternative route. Piece of mind is priceless especially with a project of this importance. After all, it is your sanctuary.

A shower remodel is also a perfect time to experiment with shower heads. There are many types, styles and brands you can choose from. The type of concrete used for shower walls and floors is highly engineered and a must if your looking for the perfect job. Tiles are generally durable, and you won't have to worry about replacing them if you choose the right material.

Tile is also an area where you have a wide range of choices. From sheet linoleum to ceramic tile the choices are numerous. Tile mosaics are especially popular in Mediterranean style bathrooms. Tile can also be used as decorative design pieces (glazed, glass mosaic or quarry styles).

Bathroom flooring, more than anything else, can have a stunning effect on the overall look of a bathroom; choose bathroom flooring wisely and you will achieve the bathroom of your dreams? Many homeowners like to install below floor heating, which is recommended with a stone or concrete floor.

You can install hardwood floors on the floor of your Bathroom, provided that they are coated with a water-proof finish. Many people will opt for this type of flooring in this part of the house because it provides warmth and has the effect of creating a soft relaxing atmosphere.

Neutral colors are probably your best bet and will last for many years to come. Some contractors will recommend using self leveling cement but good old poured concrete screened floors is the only way to get that perfect job. Selecting a contractor by referrals is also the best way to choose the right company for the job.

Plan For a Kitchen Remodeling

You only want what is best for your home, and the most important area in the house is probably your kitchen. This Deciding to remodel or renovate your kitchen is one of the best investments you can make.Even if you're not planning to move anytime soon, a kitchen renovation is a great project to undertake.

To start out with, decide what kind of kitchen you want, modern or traditional, L-shaped or U-shaped. Everybody knows that making home renovations beautifies the home and adds to its usefulness. A successful kitchen renovation is not simply a matter of selecting the right paint colour or a wallpaper design. Decide where you want the sink, the work counter and the refrigerator. When you think of how you can update the look of your kitchen without much money, what you should do first is take the time to write down all the improvements you have in mind for your new kitchen, cooking is a big part, but if your family likes to hang out and do homework in the kitchen, you might want to add a breakfast nook or storage benches to your plan.

Regardless of what route, a homeowner needs to first sketch out some kitchen remodeling ideas to ensure the kitchen design and costs will meet their targeted functional requirements and budget. In an ideal kitchen, room size is of lesser importance. Instead, the key is the efficient use of space. Dismantle and remove the existing kitchen appliances, cabinets, benchtops, splashbacks, light fittings, sinks, taps, finishes and floor coverings.

A kitchen renovation project is a complicated undertaking. The complexity involved can create stress, inconvenience and expense in attempting to manage such a project. establishing your purpose for the renovation and deciding upon floor plan design, you will need a materials list to get a better idea of project needs and costs.

Screened Patios

Often times a screened patio is called a sunroom or sun porch. This is because it is enclosed, so it acts as a room, and because the walls allow sunshine in, which keeps the screened patio nice and warm.

The benefits of screened patios are as follows:

Screened patios allow more quality time on your deck or patio. It creates an outdoor space that can be enjoyed by all without worry of some of the nuisances of the outdoors (children getting all dirty, bugs, etc.).

It can be easy and affordable to make a screened patio enclosure. Basically this is a big plus because it means that you do not have to be a construction whiz or a really wealthy person to enjoy a screened patio.

Spring starts sooner and Summer lasts longer in screened patios. Basically having your patio enclosed in some way really extends the outdoor sitting season, it means less exposure to the elements, and thus a longer season of enjoyment.

Enjoy the outdoors in our bug-free screened patio. One of the worst parts of summer is the mosquitoes and bees that won't leave you alone when you are BBQing with friends, or reading in the late afternoon or evening. Basically the bugs are important, but we sure wish we did not have to deal with them, with screened patios you don't. Unless you let them in through the door, your patio can be completely bug free, which means you can enjoy the summer nights, and do it without bites or stinky bug spray.

A screened patio is also an ideal spot for spas and hot tubs. You do not have to worry about neighbor kids sneaking into it at night because it is enclosed, and you also do not have the problems that come with having a hot tub or spa indoors; you get natural ventilation, but protection.

Relax in the warmth of a passive solar sunroom addition. If you make your screened patio into a sunroom by adding in some extras, you can enjoy the warmth of that room year round without heating costs.

Screened patios means saved money. You can get an easy to install, premade screen, and then reap the benefits of lower heating and cooling costs. You can turn your AC off sooner because the roof of your screened patio will block a lot of sun from entering and heating your house, and you can turn the heat on later as a screened patio will help your home retain heat longer.

Screened patios and sunrooms are a great way to extend your garden growing season. This is not always the case, but screened patios built with certain materials act like a green house in that they keep warm and allow plants to grow year round.

A screened patio means more time outdoors which turns into less abuse on the indoors, so your furniture and carpets last longer, not to mention the fact that the roof blocks sun which equals less carpet and furniture fading as well.

There are lots of options out there, basically the options of screened patios to choose from will depend on your budget, your carpentry skills and your purposes and interests in getting a screened patio.

Sloping Floors in Your House

If you've ever been in a building where you feel like you are getting pushed to one side and you can't seem to stand up. You have either been drinking too much alcohol or the floor could be sloping. I was just in a store the other day that was full of antiques and glass but I could hardly stand up because the floor was sloping enough to create what I would consider a liability issue to the store owner.

Sloping floors are not going to be that easy to fix and repair. Repairing these floors will require a little skill and it would be a good idea to hire a professional to repair the damage. This is not going to be a simple fix and this is probably the main reason most people never choose to fix their sloping floors.

Fixing these floors will require either pouring a new concrete slab, replacing the wood floor framing members or replacing the actual building foundation itself. No matter how you look at it the sloping floor is going to be a costly item to repair.

What causes a sloping floor? Termite damage or dry rot destroying the wood framing or it could be as simple as a water leak over a long period of time causing the building foundation to sink and become out of level. Poor soil conditions with either too sandy or an expansive clay soil could be the culprit also.

Sloping floors can be damaged from incorrect landscape drainage. This would involve water settling around the foundation of your home and over a period of time the weight of the house along with soil problems can create the building to start sloping to one side.

The number one contributor to a sloping floor again like most damage done to a house is going to be water. Do your best to keep the water away from the house using roof gutters and landscape drains. These items are relatively inexpensive compared to the costs involved in repairing sloping floors.
